Have you ever found yourself in a moment of confusion …stillness, feeling as though you’ve literally gone to another planet, no one understands? What does it mean when these moments occur, and how can we navigate through them righteously?
Encountering Christ
When we encounter visions or hear God's voice, it is often a moment of revelation or communion. According to the Bible, God’s presence is indescribable; it opens our hearts and minds to deeper insights and understanding. In John 10:27 (MSG), Jesus states, “My sheep know my voice. I know them, and they follow me.” This verse ensures us that being able to sense God's presence or hear from Him indicates a close, personal relationship with Him.
God speaks in many ways, for many different purposes to reach different people in different places of their lives. Where is he speaking to you?
1. Guidance- God may be directing you toward a specific path or decision.
2. Comfort- In times of distress, a vision can bring peace and reassurance, letting you know that you are not alone.
3. Revelation- Often, these experiences unveil truths about God, ourselves, or others, contributing to our spiritual growth.
4. Intercession- Very often God will place it on those who can be trusted(you) to pray and war on behalf of someone else. Sometimes it may be hard, it might even be an unbeliever but by you earnestly crying out for another a change will be made.
What to Do During These Intimate Moments
1. Acknowledge the Experience:
Recognizing that you’re in God's presence is the first step. It’s essential to pause, take a deep breath, and fully embrace the moment.
2. Pray:
Communication with God is key. Speak to Him from your heart. You can express your gratitude, ask for clarity about what you are experiencing, or seek confirmation about a direction you might be considering. Philippians 4:6-7 (MSG) reminds us, “Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns.”
3. Journal the Experience:
Writing down what you see or hear can help in processing your experience. It also serves as a spiritual record to revisit later. Habakkuk 2:2 (MSG) encourages us to document our revelations: “And then God answered: Write this. Write what you see. Write it out in big block letters so that it can be read on the run.”
4. Act on the Guidance Received:
If you feel God is prompting you towards certain actions or decisions, take them. James 1:22 (MSG) says, “Don’t fool yourself into thinking that you are a listener when you are anything but, letting the word go in one ear and out the other.”
Experiencing God’s presence is a physical or sometimes spiritual display of His love and intimacy with us. As we enjoy these moments, we deepen our discernment and our walk in faith. Always remember to approach these encounters with reverence and openness, for they are precious gifts that can lead to the best you. Your quest with God is distinctly yours, and through prayer, community, and reflection, you can make the most of these beautiful moments. Trusting that God has a plan for you, and as you take the time to listen, pray, and fast you will be guided on the narrow path He has set for you. So as always let us all stay dangerous and ten toes down for Jesus!
